Nestled on a sprawling 6612 sq.m site in Mira Road, the Meditation Centre stands as a beacon of architectural excellence and environmental consciousness. This government-owned facility, operating six days a week from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, is a testament to the seamless integration of sustainability and design.
A staggering 40% of the site area has been dedicated to lush landscaping, maximizing the use of adaptive and native species, as well as manicured lawns. With around 100 trees gracing the site, the Meditation Centre serves as a green education hub, setting an inspiring example for all visitors on the principles of green building and sustainability.
The facility has managed a 30% reduction in potable water usage, achieved through the installation of water-efficient fixtures like dual-flush toilets, urinals, and low-flow faucets. Rainwater harvesting further enhances sustainability, with a dedicated sump collecting roof runoff for domestic purposes. Meters at various levels ensure precise monitoring of water usage.
The Meditation Centre adopts cutting-edge energy-saving technologies. VRF systems with an impressive COP of 4.23, utilizing eco-friendly R410A refrigerant, have been employed for mechanical ventilation. 100% of the interior and exterior lighting is powered by energy-efficient LED lights. Shading devices, accounting for 83% of exterior openings, ensure optimal thermal comfort.
In keeping with future-forward design, the project includes three electric vehicle charging points for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The use of CII GreenPro Certified materials, such as Tata Tiscon Steel bars 500D and low-VOC Asian Paints, showcases a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
To reduce environmental impact, artificial sand has been substituted for river sand, serving as an alternative construction material. Low-VOC paints, coatings, adhesives, and sealants have been thoughtfully selected for the project, minimizing emissions and creating a healthier indoor environment.
The double-height entrance lobby features efficient glass with an impressively low U-value of 5.8 W/sq.mK, SHGC of 0.57, and VLT of 22%. The surrounding landscape boasts an array of native and adaptive species, including the Golden Bamboo tree, Double Tegar, Frangipani, and Golden Chain Tree Laburnum, adding to the natural beauty of the site.
